Best Time for Trekking in Kashmir

The paradise like Kashmir enjoys a slightly different trekking timetable than the other Himalayan states in India. The best time to trek in Kashmir is considered July to October, which cover two seasons – monsoon and winter/autumn. Trekking in April is also considered an ideal time. 

Kashmir doesn’t receive heavy rainfall, and this is the reason, the months of July – September are perfect for trekking. Rainfall occurs in these months but those are light showers that do not interrupt the treks. In the monsoon season, the best treks to do in Kashmir are the popular Kashmir Great Lakes Trek, Gadsar Lake Trek, Kishansar & Vishansar Lakes Trek, and Tarsar & Marsar Lakes Trek.

In the winter season (October-March), Kashmir has limited treks to offer like Naranag Trek and Gangabal Lake Trek. Trekkers can also attempt the famous Tarsar and Marsar Lakes Trek in the early months of winter (October).
