Thousands of Hindu-Sikh pilgrims from across Pakistan and around the world gathered at Gurdwara Baba Nanak Shah Daharki to celebrate the 358th Gurpurabh Parkash of Guru Gobind Singh Sahib Ji. The three-day festival, held annually in January, witnessed a vibrant and spiritual congregation of devotees who came together to pay homage to the revered Guru.
The historic Gurdwara, which has stood for 50 years, serves as a focal point for Sikh religious and cultural activities in the region. The celebrations commenced with kirtan samagams (hymn recitals) and langar (community kitchen), which continued throughout the three-day event. Devotees participated in spiritual discourses, prayers, and hymns, creating an atmosphere of devotion and unity.
A major highlight of the festival was the Palki Sahib Nagar Kirtan, a grand procession that carried the Guru Granth Sahib through the streets, accompanied by singing and chanting by the devotees. This event symbolizes the spreading of Guru Nanak’s teachings of love, equality, and service.
The festival was divided into two locations: one day of celebrations took place at Gurdwara Sahib, while the remaining two days were observed in Satram Puri Mohalla. During this time, free stalls and langar halls provided meals to thousands of visitors, embodying the Sikh principle of selfless service (seva).
Pilgrims from different corners of the world joined in the festivities, strengthening the bonds of faith and community. The annual gathering not only celebrates the birth of Guru Gobind Singh Ji but also promotes the values of harmony, equality, and devotion among the followers.
As the celebrations concluded, attendees expressed their gratitude for the seamless arrangements and the spiritual fulfillment they experienced. The Gurdwara Baba Nanak Shah Daharki continues to be a beacon of faith, attracting devotees who seek blessings and enlightenment in the teachings of Sikhism.
