The event commenced with a Rudrabhisheka at 4 a.m., conducted by Team One India Strong India comprising volunteers from Mysuru and Bengaluru. A group of 13 dedicated volunteers chanted Vedic mantras, invoking peace and spiritual harmony in the Kashmir Valley. As part of the rituals, the group also performed Mrityunjaya Japa, praying for the longevity and safety of soldiers amid ongoing tense border conditions.
A significant highlight of the prayers was a special appeal for the reunification of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir and the sacred site of Sharada Peeth. This marks the 12th consecutive year that these volunteers have journeyed to Kashmir for Shankaracharya Jayanti, demonstrating an unwavering commitment to peace and cultural revival in the region.
The event saw the enthusiastic participation of the Jammu and Kashmir Police band, which added ceremonial grandeur to the proceedings. Eminent saints and spiritual leaders, including Swami Vishwatmanand Saraswati from Sunderbani and Mahamandaleshwar Sri Akshaganananda Ji from Jammu, led a profound satsang, guiding devotees in spiritual discourse and meditation.
Support from the CRPF, Indian Army, and the district administration was instrumental in ensuring the smooth conduct of the event. Several VIPs and dignitaries also participated in the homa, lending further significance to the occasion.
Renowned Bharatanatyam artiste Dr. Nagalakshmi Nagarajan from Mysuru mesmerized the audience with a classical dance performance depicting the life and works of Adi Shankaracharya. Her presentation, based on the Kavya (poetic) work ‘Srimad Shankara Digvijaya’ by sage Vidyaranya, featured compelling segments like ‘Digvijaya Chamatkara’ and ‘Shri Sharada Pitharohanam’, drawing wide acclaim for its spiritual depth and artistic brilliance.
The celebration not only honored the legacy of Adi Shankaracharya but also served as a unifying spiritual and cultural event for devotees and citizens committed to peace and heritage preservation in Kashmir.
